He played college football for the Indiana University Hoosiers, where he recorded 11,271 passing yards and 81 touchdowns during his career. Green's most significant years were spent with the Kansas City Chiefs, who acquired him in 2001. He played as their starting quarterback from 2001 to 2006, where he recorded 118 touchdowns and 14,369 passing yards while leading them to two division titles. Green was considered one of the most efficient quarterbacks during his time with the Chiefs he went on to become the fifth leading passer in the franchise's history.
