Tyler Matakevich is a professional football linebacker who currently plays for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League (NFL). Born on December 22, 1992, in Stratford, Connecticut, Matakevich showed a keen interest and talent for football from an early age. He played for his high school team, St. Joseph High School, where he was a standout linebacker, leading his team to two state championships.
Matakevich later went on to play college football for the Temple Owls. He was a dominant force on the field, earning numerous accolades for his impressive performances throughout his college career. He was a three-time American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year, a two-time First-Team All-American, and a Bednarik Award winner in 2015, which is given to the nation's top defensive player. He finished his college career as Temple's all-time leader in tackles with 493 total tackles.
Matakevich was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons with the Steelers, serving primarily as a special teams player but also making important contributions on defense. In March 2020, he signed a two-year contract with the Buffalo Bills, marking a new chapter in his NFL career. Matakevich is widely recognized for his work ethic, discipline, and leadership qualities, which have earned him the respect and admiration of his teammates, coaches, and fans alike.
