Wayne Millner Autographs
Wayne Millner was an American football player who is widely regarded as one of the greatest two-way ends in NFL history. Millner was born on January 31, 1913, in Roxboro, North Carolina. He played college football for the University of Notre Dame, where he was a standout player for the Fighting Irish. In 1936, Millner was drafted by the Boston Redskins and was an immediate success, leading the team in receptions for his first eight seasons in the NFL. Millner was a two-way end, earning All-Pro honors both as an offensive end and a defensive back.
In 1942, Millner joined the United States Army Air Forces during World War II and served as a fighter pilot. He returned to the Redskins in 1945, resuming his career as an offensive end and defensive back. Millner was named first-team All-Pro four times and helped lead the Redskins to NFL championships in 1937 and 1942. He was also named to the NFL 1940s All-Decade Team. Millner retired from football following the 1947 season and became a coach, serving as an assistant for the Redskins, Green Bay Packers, and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Wayne Millner was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1968, cementing his status as one of the all-time greats in NFL history. He is also a member of the College Football Hall of Fame after being inducted in 1988. Millner's legacy as a two-way end can still be seen in NFL players today, as his versatility and athleticism remain highly sought-after traits in the sport. The impact that he has had on American football is evident, and his name will forever be remembered as one of the best to ever wear a Washington Redskins jersey.
