He was born on January 8, 1966, in Greenville, South Carolina, and grew up in the small town of Wren. Anderson was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the 1988 NBA draft. He quickly established himself as a starter on the team and helped lead the team to consecutive playoff appearances. Anderson was known for his ability to score from anywhere on the court and his tenacious defense. Over the course of his NBA career, Anderson played for the Spurs, the New York Knicks, the Miami Heat, and the Denver Nuggets. He retired from the NBA in 1997 after a successful nine-year career.
