Willie Buchanon Autographs
Willie Buchanon is a retired American football player who played as a cornerback for the NFL’s Green Bay Packers and the San Diego Chargers. Born on November 4, 1950, in Oceanside, California, Buchanon played college football at San Diego State University, where he was one of the top college football players of his time. He was awarded the Maxwell Award for best college football player in 1971 and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2014.
Buchanon was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the 1972 NFL Draft. He played for the Packers for six seasons from 1972 to 1977 and was a Pro Bowl selection in four of those seasons. In 1978, Buchanon signed with the San Diego Chargers as a free agent and played for them for three seasons before retiring from football in 1982. During his NFL career, Buchanon had 28 interceptions, which he returned for 399 yards, and scored two touchdowns. He was known as a physical and fast cornerback, and his cover skills were highly respected by his peers.
After retiring from professional football, Buchanon earned his law degree and became an attorney in Southern California. He has also been involved in various philanthropic endeavors, including serving on the board of the Willie Buchanon Foundation, which provides sports equipment and opportunities for youth in Oceanside, where he grew up. Buchanon’s contributions to football and his community have made him a respected figure in sports and social activism.
