Willie Ellison Autographs
Willie Ellison is a former American football running back known for his remarkable performances during his career. Ellison was born on November 27, 1945, in Winnsboro, Louisiana. He played his high school football in Tallulah, Louisiana, and started his collegiate career at Northeast Louisiana State College, where he led the team in rushing yards for three consecutive years. He later transferred to Texas Southern University, where he continued his football career and emerged as one of the best running backs in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
Ellison began his professional career after being selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the 22nd round of the 1967 NFL draft. In his rookie season, he helped the Rams reach the playoffs and was named the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year. Ellison quickly established himself as one of the most productive running backs in the league, leading the NFL in rushing yards in 1972 with 1,251 yards. He was also named an All-Pro three times and was selected to the Pro Bowl on four occasions during his career.
Ellison retired from football after the 1973 season due to a knee injury. He left the game with an impressive resume, including 4,082 rushing yards, 32 touchdowns, and an average of 4.3 yards per carry. In addition to his accomplishments on the field, Ellison was known for his hard work and determination, which helped him overcome adversity throughout his career. He was inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in 1991 and was named to the SWAC Hall of Fame in 2014 in recognition of his outstanding achievements in football.
