Willie Lanier was a legendary American football player who is widely regarded as one of the greatest middle linebackers in NFL history. Born on August 21, 1945, in Clover, Virginia, Lanier played college football at Morgan State University before being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the second round of the 1967 NFL draft.
