Younghoe Koo Autographs
Younghoe Koo is a South Korean placekicker who has made a name for himself in American football. He was born on August 3, 1994, in Seoul, South Korea, and moved to the United States when he was in elementary school. Koo played soccer and football in high school, but he excelled at football and decided to pursue it in college. He attended Georgia Southern University, where he played for the Eagles football team from 2014 to 2016.
In his college career, Koo was a standout kicker and earned All-American honors in his senior year. After going undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft, Koo signed with the Los Angeles Chargers, where he competed for the starting kicker position. He was named the team's starting kicker for the 2017 season, but his NFL debut was rocky, as he missed a game-tying field goal attempt in the closing seconds of the game against the Denver Broncos. Nevertheless, Koo bounced back in the following games and showed promise as a reliable kicker. However, he was released by the Chargers after four games and spent the remainder of the 2017 season without a team.
Koo's persistence paid off when he was signed by the Atlanta Falcons in 2019. He made a strong impression in the preseason and won the team's starting kicker job for the regular season. In Week 14, Koo kicked a game-winning field goal against the San Francisco 49ers, earning him NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors. He continued to perform well throughout the season and was named to the Pro Bowl as an alternate. In the 2020 season, Koo further established himself as one of the NFL's top kickers, earning the nickname "Youngthoe Money" for his clutch performances. As of 2021, he remains a key player for the Falcons and is recognized as one of the league's most accurate kickers.
