Ziggy Hood is a former American football defensive tackle who played in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons. He was born on February 16, 1987, in Amarillo, Texas, and attended Palo Duro High School where he played football, basketball, and track. In 2009, Hood was picked by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round (32nd overall) of the NFL Draft. He played with the Steelers for five seasons before being traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2014. Hood joined the Washington Redskins (now known as the Washington Football Team) in 2016 and played with them for another three seasons before retiring at the end of the 2018 season. Throughout his NFL career, he played in a total of 144 games, recorded 270 tackles, and had 16.5 sacks.

During his time in the NFL, Hood was known for his versatility and work ethic. He could play both defensive tackle and defensive end and was often praised for his ability to disrupt plays in the backfield. Despite not achieving any major individual accolades, Hood was a consistent contributor to his team and played an important role in their success.
