Hemsky initially started playing hockey at a young age, where he played for his local club, HC Pardubice. His impressive skills on the ice quickly caught the attention of scouts, leading to his drafting by the Edmonton Oilers in the first round, min 13th overall, of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. In his NHL career, Hemsky played for three teams, including the Edmonton Oilers, Ottawa Senators, and Dallas Stars. He is widely regarded as a highly skilled playmaker due to his impressive agility, quick shots, and an all-around strong offensive game. In the 2005-06 NHL season, Hemsky helped lead the Oilers to the Stanley Cup Finals, in which they made it all the way to Game seven but ultimately lost to the Carolina Hurricanes. During his career, Hemsky gave several impressive performances, including his five points, including two goals and three assists in a single game against the ColumbusBlue Jackets in October 2006.

Ales Hemsky announced his retirement from professional hockey in 2019, leaving behind a lasting legacy as one of the NHL's most talented playmakers. Hemsky's exceptional skill and dedication to the sport earned him significant recognition within the hockey community, including numerous awards and recognition for his numerous accomplishments.
