Alexander Steen is a former professional ice hockey player. He was born on March 1, 1984, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Steen is the son of former NHL player Thomas Steen, and he inherited his father's love and passion for ice hockey. He began playing hockey at a young age and eventually became a standout player in his native Canada. Alexander was drafted in the first round of the 2002 NHL Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs. Steen started his NHL career in the 2005-06 season with the Maple Leafs, where he spent two-and-a-half seasons before being traded to the St. Louis Blues. With the Blues, Steen played 10 seasons and established himself as a reliable two-way forward. He was named an alternate captain of the Blues in 2011 and was an instrumental player in the team's run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2019. In his ten seasons with the Blues, Steen amassed 622 points in 765 games and was considered one of the most complete players in the league.

Steen retired from the NHL on December 17, 2020, due to a back injury. He finished his professional hockey career with 622 points in 1,018 NHL games. He represented Sweden in numerous international tournaments, including the Olympics, where he won a silver medal in 2014. Alexander Steen's legacy as a hockey player will be remembered as a reliable player who contributed on both ends of the ice and was a model teammate.
