Alexei Kasatonov Autographs
Alexei Kasatonov was born on October 14, 1959, in Leningrad, Russia. He started playing hockey at an early age and played for the Central Red Army hockey team in the Soviet Union. He joined the national team representing the Soviet Union and played in seven world championships, three Canada Cup tournaments, and won two Olympic gold medals in 1984 and 1988.
In 1988, Kasatonov joined the New Jersey Devils of the NHL and became one of the top defensemen in the league. He played for the Devils for three seasons and then traded to the Los Angeles Kings where he spent three years. He played a total of 384 games in the NHL, scoring 39 goals and 185 assists. In 1993, he returned to Russia and played his last two seasons of professional hockey.
Kasatonov's hockey career continued after he retired from playing professionally. He coached the Russian national team and helped lead them to a bronze medal in the 2002 Winter Olympics. He also coached club teams in Russia and worked as an advisor to the New Jersey Devils. He later became the President of the Hockey Federation of St. Petersburg and was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame in 2009. Kasatonov's contributions to the game of hockey will always be remembered, and his legacy as a player and coach will continue to inspire future generations.
