Andre Pronovost Autographs
Andre Pronovost was born on December 20, 1936, in Shawinigan, Quebec, Canada. He grew up playing hockey and eventually played junior hockey for the Shawinigan Falls Cataractes in 1953. He was then signed by the Montreal Canadiens organization and played for the Quebec Aces in the Quebec Hockey League before joining the Canadiens in the 1956-57 season.
Pronovost played for the Canadiens for four seasons, winning the Stanley Cup three times (1957, 1958, and 1959). He was traded to the Detroit Red Wings in 1960 and played for them for six seasons. He was a key player in the Red Wings' run to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1961 and 1963, although they lost both times. Pronovost finished his NHL career with the Boston Bruins in the 1967-68 season.
After retiring from the NHL, Pronovost stayed involved with hockey by coaching and scouting for various teams. He was instrumental in the development of future NHL stars such as Steve Yzerman and Dino Ciccarelli. Pronovost was also inducted into the Quebec Sports Hall of Fame in 1986 and the Shawinigan Hall of Fame in 2006. He passed away on July 7, 2015, at the age of 78.
