Andrew Raycroft Autographs
Andrew Raycroft was born on May 4, 1980, in Belleville, Ontario, Canada. Growing up in Belleville, Raycroft fell in love with playing hockey at a young age. He started playing in local leagues and eventually earned himself a spot on the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League. Raycroft would go on to play four seasons with the Frontenacs, amassing 96 wins in 166 games played.
After being drafted in the fifth round, 135th overall, by the Boston Bruins in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, Raycroft began his professional career in the minor leagues. It was not until the 2003-04 season that Raycroft would make his NHL debut with the Bruins. That season he impressed the league, posting a 29-18-9 record, 2.05 goals against average, and a .926 save percentage. Raycroft became the first rookie goaltender in NHL history to win the prestigious Calder Trophy as the league's rookie of the year.
Over the course of his career, Raycroft would go on to play with four other NHL teams, including the Toronto Maple Leafs, Colorado Avalanche, Vancouver Canucks, and Dallas Stars. While he never quite matched the success of his rookie season, Raycroft remained a solid and reliable goaltender throughout his career. Canadiens legend Patrick Roy even praised Raycroft as one of his favorite goaltenders to watch, citing his work ethic and determination on the ice. After 10 seasons in the NHL, Raycroft retired in 2014 and now works as a color commentator and analyst for the Bruins.
