Antti RaantaAntti Raanta is a Finnish professional ice hockey goaltender who currently plays for the Arizona Coyotes in the National Hockey League (NHL). Born on May 12, 1989, in Rauma, Finland, Raanta started playing hockey at an early age, and his passion for the game led him down a promising path.
Raanta began his professional career in 2009, playing for the Ässät Pori of the Finnish Liiga. He quickly established himself as one of the best goalies in the league, earning the league's Best Goaltender award in 2013. In 2013, he joined the Chicago Blackhawks of the NHL, and he made his debut for the team in November of that year. Raanta played a vital role as a backup goalie during his two seasons with the Blackhawks, helping the team win the Stanley Cup in 2015. He was also named the NHL's First Star of the Week in November 2013 after posting three consecutive shutouts.
In 2015, Raanta was traded to the New York Rangers, where he had three seasons of solid play as a backup goalie. In 2018, he was traded to the Coyotes, where he became the team's starting goalie. Raanta has since established himself as a reliable goalie for the Coyotes, earning a record of 82 wins in 135 games played with the team. Today, he continues to thrive in the NHL as one of the league's top goaltenders.
