Barclay Plager Autographs

Barclay Plager was an iconic Canadian professional ice hockey player who was born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Canada, on March 26, 1941. He was the oldest of the Plager brothers, which included Bill and Bob, both of whom also became NHL defensemen. Barclay began his hockey career with the Sudbury Wolves in 1958 before ascending to the minors and playing with the Providence Reds for four seasons before joining the St. Louis Blues in 1967.
Barclay Plager was a critical member of the St. Louis Blues, helping them make the Stanley Cup Finals in 1968, 1969, and 1970, all in their first three NHL seasons. He was a tireless defenseman who used his strength, agility, and critical thinking skills to thwart opposing attackers. Plager's leadership qualities, which made him a fan and team favorite, enabled him to captain the Blues for his last two seasons. Plager enjoyed a 12-year NHL run, nine of them with the St. Louis Blues, and he completed his professional hockey career in 1977 with the Atlanta Flames.
Barclay Plager's dedication to the sport and his selfless leadership qualities left a lasting legacy within the NHL. He played a total of 644 games, finishing with 20 goals, 126 assists, and 146 points, with a particular focus on his defensive strengths. At the time of his untimely death, he was employed by the Blues as the head coach of their Central Hockey League affiliate in Salt Lake City, Utah. His contributions, both on and off the ice, have won him a place in the hearts of many hockey fans, and he remains an inspiration to all who have heard his name.
