Bob Plager was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who was born on March 11, 1943, in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Canada. His hockey career began in 1961 when he joined the Guelph Royals of the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA). Plager played in the minor leagues for several years before he got his NHL break with the New York Rangers in 1963. He only played 17 games with the Rangers before he was traded to the St Louis Blues, where he would go on to play the majority of his career. More about Bob Plager

Plager played with the Blues from 1967-1978, helping them reach the Stanley Cup Finals three times in a row from 1968-1970. Though they lost all three times in the finals, Plager was a crucial part of the team's success. His hard-hitting style of play and leadership qualities made him a fan favorite in St Louis, earning him the nickname "Mr. Blue".
