Bob Sauve is a retired Canadian ice hockey goaltender who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Buffalo Sabres, Detroit Red Wings, and Chicago Blackhawks. Born on November 19, 1955, in Ottawa, Ontario, Sauve began his professional hockey career in 1975 when he was signed by the Buffalo Sabres. He made his debut in the 1976-77 season and quickly became one of the team's top goaltenders. Sauve played with the Sabres for eight seasons and helped the team reach the Stanley Cup Finals in 1979. In 1986, Sauve was traded to the Detroit Red Wings, where he played for one season before being traded to the Chicago Blackhawks. He retired from professional hockey in 1989, with a career record of 158 wins, 147 losses, and 44 ties. Sauve was inducted into the Buffalo Sabres Hall of Fame in 1989, and in 2016 he was inducted into the Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame.
