Bob Sweeney is a former professional ice hockey player who was born on January 25, 1964, in Concord, Massachusetts. He started playing hockey at a young age and went on to play for the Boston College Eagles in the NCAA. In 1982, he was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the third round of the NHL Entry Draft.
Sweeney made his NHL debut with the Bruins in the 1986-87 season and played for the team for nine seasons. He was known for his physical play and solid defensive skills. Sweeney played a total of 631 games in the NHL and scored 139 goals and 188 assists for 327 points. His best season came in 1992-93 when he scored 26 goals and had 37 assists for a total of 63 points.
After retiring from professional hockey in 1997, Sweeney became a broadcaster for the Bruins and worked as a studio analyst for NESN. He was also involved in various charitable organizations, including the Jimmy Fund and the Massachusetts Hockey Association. In addition, he served as the President of the Boston Bruins Alumni Association. Sweeney's contributions to the sport of hockey have made him a beloved figure in the Boston community and beyond.
