Bobby Smith is a retired Canadian professional hockey player, and he was born on February 12, 1958, in North Sydney, Nova Scotia. He started playing minor hockey in his hometown at an early age, and by the early 1970s, he was already a highly skilled forward. Bobby Smith played for the Minnesota North Stars for five seasons, and he was a key player in the team's success during that period. He was the team's leading scorer in four of those five seasons, and he helped the North Stars reach the Stanley Cup Finals in 1981. He was also named team captain in 1983, making him the youngest captain in team history. After his time with the North Stars, he played for the Montreal Canadiens, where he helped lead the team to the Stanley Cup championship in 1986.

Throughout his career, Bobby Smith was known for his excellent playmaking skills and his ability to score goals. He was a highly respected player both on and off the ice, and he was inducted into the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame in 1997. After retiring from hockey, he became involved in various charitable organizations, and he served as the president of the Halifax Mooseheads, a major junior ice hockey team, from 1999 to 2007. Bobby Smith's contributions to the sport of hockey have left a lasting impact, and his legacy continues to inspire new generations of players.
