Brandon Gormley is a former professional ice hockey player raised in Murray River, Prince Edward Island, Canada. He was born on February 18, 1992, Brandon began his hockey career in his hometown, playing for the Murray River Cormorants. He showed exceptional talent for the game, and he moved on to play for the P.E.I Rocket in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League(QMJHL).
Gormley was drafted by the NHL by the Phoenix Coyotes 13th overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He played a great deal of his professional career in the American Hockey League(AHL). During his time in the AHL, Gormley was considered a powerful defensive player capable of playing great shutdown defense. He also appeared in 58 games in the NHL over his five-year career, where he scored two goals and earned six assists. He was known for his reliable defense skills, and he displayed good puck skill and skating abilities throughout his career.
In addition, Gormley represented Canada on the international stage, earning two medals. In 2010, he won a bronze medal at the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships in Saskatchewan, and in 2012, he helped Canada to a gold medal at the IIHF World Championships in Sweden and Finland. Today, Brandon Gormley has retired from professional hockey after sustaining a career-ending injury. However, his career in hockey is nothing short of exceptional, and to this day, he remains a beloved player within the hockey community.
