Brandon Tanev Autographs
Brandon Tanev is a Canadian ice hockey player born on December 31, 1991, in Toronto, Ontario. He played his junior hockey with the Surrey Eagles of the British Columbia Hockey League and was committed to the Providence College Friars of the Hockey East conference. After playing four seasons with the Friars, Tanev went undrafted in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft but was signed by the Winnipeg Jets as a free agent.
Tanev made his NHL debut with the Jets in the 2016-17 season and quickly caught the attention of the coaches and fans with his speed and physicality on the ice. He became a regular member of the Jets' bottom-six forward group and played an instrumental role in the team's run to the Western Conference Final in the 2017-18 season. Tanev's hard work and determination earned him a reputation as a fan favorite and a reliable penalty killer.
In the summer of 2019, Tanev was signed by the Pittsburgh Penguins to a six-year contract worth $21 million. He continued to show his value to his teams with his work ethic and toughness, and in the 2020-21 season, he set career highs in goals (11) and points (22). He was also named the Penguins' nominee for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, awarded annually to the NHL player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to ice hockey.
