Brandon Yip Autographs
Brandon Yip is a Canadian former professional ice hockey right winger. Born on April 25, 1985, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Yip was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the eighth round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, 239th overall. He played four seasons for Boston University from 2004 to 2008 and was named Hockey East's rookie of the year in his first year. Yip amassed 133 points in 146 collegiate games, including 61 goals and 72 assists.
After completing his college career, Yip signed with the Colorado Avalanche in April 2008. His NHL debut took place on November 5, 2009, and he scored his first NHL goal in his first game. Yip became known for his physical style of play and his ability to score crucial goals. He recorded his first multi-point game against the Minnesota Wild, where he had two goals and one assist. Over the course of his professional hockey career, Yip also played for the Nashville Predators and the Phoenix Coyotes, before retiring from playing in 2018 after three seasons in the Swedish league with the Växjö Lakers.
Off the ice, Yip was known for his charitable and community work. In Nashville, he was involved with the Best Buddies organization, which works to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Yip was also involved with the Second Harvest Food Bank, where he helped collect food for those in need. Although Yip has retired from professional ice hockey, he remains involved in the sport, working as an assistant coach with his former team, the Colorado Avalanche. He also runs the Brandon Yip Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports children with autism and other developmental disabilities.

China primed to enter men's Olympic hockey fray for the first time (02/02/2022): BEIJING — Brandon Yip was growing up in Vancouver when his grandmother figured he also needed a Chinese name to honour the family's heritage. The matriarch decided "Jinguang" was a good fit, and the younger Yip continued on as a Canadian kid chasing his hockey dream. The new moniker, however, stuck.
