Brent Sutter is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and coach, born on June 10, 1962, in Red Deer, Alberta. Brent's hockey career spanned over two decades, during which he was a talented forward who played for various NHL teams. Brent played his junior career for the Red Deer Rustlers and the Lethbridge Broncos of the Western Hockey League. Brent began his NHL career in the 1980-1981 season with the New York Islanders, where he played for six seasons, winning two Stanley Cups. He moved to the Chicago Blackhawks in 1987 and played for two seasons, followed by the St. Louis Blues, where he spent one season before joining the Calgary Flames. Brent spent four seasons with the Flames, serving as the team's captain for three of those seasons. In 1998, he announced his retirement from professional hockey after twenty seasons.

After his retirement, Brent became a successful coach, starting with the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League. He helped lead the Rebels to a Memorial Cup championship in 2001. In 2007, Brent became the head coach of the New Jersey Devils for two seasons, followed by a four-year stint as the head coach of the Calgary Flames. Brent's extensive experience as a player and coach has made him a key figure in the hockey industry, being inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.
