Brian MacLellan Autographs
Brian MacLellan is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played as a right winger in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born on October 27, 1958, in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. MacLellan played college hockey at Bowling Green State University, where he was a member of the NCAA Championship team in 1984. After college, he was drafted 15th overall by the Los Angeles Kings in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft.
MacLellan began his NHL career with the Kings in the 1982-83 season, where he played five seasons before he was traded to the New York Rangers in 1987. In his nine-year NHL career, he played 606 games, scored 172 goals, and recorded 349 points. His best season came in the 1989-90 season when he recorded 72 points (30 goals and 42 assists) with the Rangers. He retired from professional hockey in 1994 and was inducted into the Bowling Green Athletic Hall of Fame in 1994.
After his playing career, MacLellan became a scout with the Washington Capitals and later served as the team's assistant general manager. In 2014, he was promoted to the general manager position for the team. In his first year as the general manager, he led the Capitals to the President's Trophy for the best regular-season record. The team won its first Stanley Cup championship in 2018, and MacLellan was named the NHL General Manager of the Year. He remains the Capitals' general manager to this day and is widely recognized for his management skills and successful drafts.
