Brian McGrattan is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player born on September 2, 1981, in Hamilton, Ontario. He played at the right-wing position in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 2005 to 2015. McGrattan was well known for his physical play, fighting skills, and tough-guy image. McGrattan began his playing career with the OHL's Owen Sound Platers in 1997 before moving on to play for the Kingston Frontenacs and the OHL. The Ottawa Senators drafted him in the fourth round, 104th overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. McGrattan played for the Senators from 2002 to 2004 before being traded to the other NHL teams. Over the course of his career, he played in 317 NHL games, scoring ten goals and 17 assists, along with 609 penalty minutes, including 69 fights.

McGrattan struggled with addiction and turned to alcohol while playing hockey. He sought help and a fresh start in 2012, entering rehab with the help of the NHL and the NHL players' association. Upon his return, he became an active member of the NHL's substance-abuse program to help other players struggling with addiction. McGrattan's career ended in 2016 while playing with the Nottingham Panthers of the EIHL, where he has since retired, but he continues to be an active ambassador for mental health and addiction treatment.
