Rolston demonstrated excellent skills and versatility as a forward player. He was known for his ability to score goals consistently and create offensive opportunities for his team. He was particularly admired for his powerful slapshot and his ability to play on the power play.

During his time as a professional ice hockey player, Rolston had an impressive record of achievements. He won two Olympic medals with Team USA (silver in 2002 and 2010). In 1995 he won the Stanley Cup with the New Jersey Devils. He also represented his country in numerous international competitions including the World Cup of Hockey, the World Championships, and the World Junior Championships.
