Budd Lynch, born on April 24, 1917, was a legendary personality in the world of ice hockey. He was a man of many hats in his long and successful career, spanning over seventy years. However, he is primarily known for his contribution as a play-by-play broadcaster for the Detroit Red Wings. Lynch's association with the Detroit Red Wings started in the early 1940s when he was hired as a public address announcer at the Olympia Stadium. Later, he started doing play-by-play commentary for the team and remained in that role until his retirement in 2012.
