Cale Makar Autographs
Cale Makar was born on October 30, 1998, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. From a young age, Makar displayed an immense love for the game of hockey, and he began playing organized hockey at a young age. Makar first played for his hometown team, the Calgary Northstars, before eventually moving on to play for the Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL).While playing for the Bandits, Makar was recognized as one of the top defensemen in the league, earning numerous accolades for his play.
After his successful stint with the Bandits, Makar committed to play Division 1 college hockey at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. During his freshman season, Makar was a key player in helping his team reach the Frozen Four for the first time in program history. Following his impressive freshman year, Makar was drafted fourth overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. Makar continued his strong play throughout his college career, earning numerous awards including the Hobey Baker Award as the top player in college hockey in 2019.
Makar made his NHL debut on April 15, 2019, and quickly made an impact for the Avalanche. In just his first playoff game, Makar scored a goal and added an assist, becoming the first defenseman in NHL history to record his first career goal in a playoff game. Makar continued his impressive play throughout the playoffs, solidifying his place as one of the top young defensemen in the league. In just his second season in the NHL, Makar was named a finalist for the Calder Trophy as the league's top rookie, and he was also selected to the NHL All-Rookie Team.
