Chris Stewart is a former Major League Baseball catcher born on February 19, 1982, in Fontana, California. Stewart grew up playing baseball in his hometown and eventually played at Canyon Springs High School. His talent in baseball earned him an athletic scholarship to Riverside City College, then transferred to Riverside City College to continue his baseball career.
Stewart began his professional baseball career in 2001 when he was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 12th round of the Major League Baseball draft. He made his Major League debut with the White Sox in 2006 but was traded to the Texas Rangers later that year. Over the next few years, Stewart bounced around the league, playing for the San Diego Padres, New York Yankees, San Francisco Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Atlanta Braves. He was known for his defensive skills as a catcher, notably his ability to throw out baserunners.
Throughout his career, Stewart earned recognition for his contributions to his teams, such as winning the Yankees' Fan’s Choice Award for the best defensive player in 2012. He retired from baseball in 2019 after a 12-year career in the Major Leagues. Currently, Chris Stewart works as an analyst on MLB Network's show "MLB Central" and continues to be involved in the baseball community.
