Clint Smith Autographs
Clint Smith is a retired professional ice hockey centre who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) during the 1930s and 1940s. He was born on December 12, 1913, in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, Canada. Smith began his hockey career in the Western Canada Hockey League (WCHL) playing for the Edmonton Eskimos in 1933, where he quickly established himself as a top scorer. In 1936, he signed a contract with the New York Rangers and made his NHL debut against the Montreal Canadiens.
Smith played for the New York Rangers for four seasons from 1936 to 1940, registering a total of 136 points in 186 games. He was known for his strong offensive skills, including his speed and playmaking abilities. In the 1939-40 season, he helped lead the Rangers to the Stanley Cup finals, where they were defeated by the Toronto Maple Leafs. After being traded to the Chicago Blackhawks in 1940, Smith continued his impressive play, scoring 42 points in his first season with the team.
In addition to his successful NHL career, Smith represented Canada at the 1938 World Championships, where he helped his team win the gold medal. He retired from professional hockey in 1948 after spending time with the Boston Bruins, but continued his involvement in the sport as a coach and scout. Smith was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1991, recognizing his significant contributions to the game of hockey.
