Colby Armstrong is a former NHL player who was born on November 23, 1982, in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Canada. Armstrong started playing hockey in his hometown before moving on to play for the Red Deer Rebels in the Western Hockey League. In 2001, he was drafted in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins. Armstrong enjoyed a successful junior career, scoring 105 goals and 235 points in 262 games. Armstrong made his NHL debut for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2002-2003 season. He quickly established himself as a solid two-way player with a knack for scoring timely goals. Armstrong spent three seasons with the Penguins before being traded to the Atlanta Thrashers in 2008.
