Orr's professional career stalled in Boston, and he was eventually traded to the New York Rangers in 2005. It was in New York where Orr made his mark as one of the NHL's most feared enforcers. He played for the Rangers from 2005 to 2009, amassing over 500 penalty minutes and becoming a fan favorite for his willingness to stand up for his teammates. In 2009, he signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he played for four more seasons before retiring in 2015 due to a head injury.

Although Orr was known primarily for his toughness and willingness to fight, he was also a skilled player who could contribute offensively when given the chance. He scored 12 goals and added 10 assists in the 2006-07 season with the Rangers, and in his final season with the Leafs, he had 4 goals and 1 assist in just 54 games. Despite retiring at the relatively young age of 33, Orr's impact on the game of hockey and his reputation as one of the NHL's toughest players will not soon be forgotten.
