Curt Giles Autographs

Curt Giles is a former professional ice hockey player and head coach who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for over a decade. Born in The Pas, Manitoba, Canada, on June 30, 1958, Giles grew up playing hockey in the neighborhood and later joined the local team. He went on to play for the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League (WHL), where he earned a reputation as a solid defenseman. In 1977, Giles was drafted by the Minnesota North Stars in the second round, and he played his first NHL game in 1979.
At Minnesota, Giles quickly established himself as a reliable defenseman, playing a decade with the team before playing a final season with the New York Rangers in 1989-90. Over the course of his 900+ NHL games, Giles tallied 85 goals, 331 assists, and 1,305 penalty minutes. He was particularly effective as a passer and set-up man, leading the team in assists in the 1981 and 1983 seasons. He was also named to the NHL All-Star game in 1981, earning him recognition as one of the league's top players.
After his playing days ended, Giles began a career in coaching, eventually returning to his alma mater, the Raiders, to serve as head coach. He then served as head coach of the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League before returning to the NHL as an assistant coach with the Minnesota Wild in 2011. Giles has also served as an assistant coach with the Buffalo Sabres and New York Rangers, and was a part of the gold-medal-winning coaching staff for the U.S. men's hockey team at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Today, Curt Giles is regarded as a legendary figure in the world of hockey, both for his exceptional playing career and his contributions as a coach.
