Dan Girardi Autographs
Dan Girardi was born on April 29, 1984, in Welland, Ontario, Canada. He is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played in the NHL for 13 seasons. Girardi began his hockey career playing for the Guelph Storm in the Ontario Hockey League, where he played 221 games and scored 24 goals and 80 assists. Girardi signed as an undrafted free agent in 2006 with the New York Rangers and went on to play 788 games for the team.
Girardi played as a defenseman for the New York Rangers from 2006 to 2018, where he became a fan favorite. He was known for his defensive prowess, and his ability to block shots and make critical plays that helped the Rangers go deep into the playoffs. During his time with the Rangers, Girardi played in over 100 playoff games, including a spot in the Stanley Cup Finals in 2014. Girardi was also a two-time All-Star, in 2012-2013 and 2014-2015. He was known to be a reliable, hardworking, and gritty player who was beloved both on and off the ice.
After his time with the Rangers, Girardi played for one season with the Tampa Bay Lightning before being forced to retire due to injuries. Throughout his career, Girardi scored 56 goals and had 208 assists, and logged over 1600 blocked shots. While his stats might not stand out, Girardi was a key player, and his contributions to the Rangers, in particular, will not be forgotten. Today, Girardi remains involved in the game of hockey, serving as a guest analyst for various sports networks.
