Dave Christian Autographs
Dave Christian is an American retired professional ice hockey player who was born on May 13th, 1959, in Warroad, Minnesota. He is well-known for his successful career in the National Hockey League (NHL) and as a member of the 1980 "Miracle on Ice" United States Olympic hockey team. Christian started playing hockey at a young age in his hometown of Warroad, where he attended Warroad High School and played for its celebrated hockey program.
Christian was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the second round of the 1979 NHL draft. He later signed with the Edmonton Oilers in 1981, where he had his most prolific seasons as a professional hockey player. For three consecutive seasons, from 1981 to 1984, Christian scored 20+ goals and was a significant contributor to the Oilers' run to the Stanley Cup playoffs in 1983. He was traded to the Washington Capitals in 1985, where he played until 1989 before being traded to the Boston Bruins. Christian retired after the 1993 season with 340 career goals and 433 career assists over a 15-year career in the NHL.
Christian was one of the central figures of the 1980 US Olympic hockey team that won the gold medal in Lake Placid, New York. He played in all seven games, scoring three goals and adding four assists. He played a pivotal role in the "Miracle on Ice" game against the Soviet Union, where he scored a goal that gave the US a 3-2 lead in the final period. The game would go down as one of the greatest upsets in sports history, and Christian would remain a celebrated figure for his contributions to the team's success. After retirement, Christian continued his involvement with hockey as a coach and built an environmentally friendly ice arena in Warroad, Minnesota.
