David Steckel Autographs
David Steckel is a former professional hockey player from the United States. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in March 1982, Steckel began playing hockey at a young age and ultimately became known for his defensive skills on the ice. After playing college hockey for Ohio State, Steckel began his professional career with the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League in 2004. He later played for several NHL teams, including the Washington Capitals, New Jersey Devils, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Anaheim Ducks.
One of Steckel's most notable achievements in hockey occurred during the 2009-2010 NHL season, when he played for the Washington Capitals. In a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on January 1, 2010, Steckel famously collided with Penguins captain Sidney Crosby, who suffered a concussion as a result of the hit. The incident sparked controversy and debates about player safety in the league. Despite this incident, Steckel was known for his clean style of play and was respected by his teammates and opponents alike.
After retiring from playing hockey in 2016, Steckel remained involved in the sport as a coach and analyst. He served as an assistant coach for the University of Wisconsin men's hockey team and has also worked as an analyst for the NHL Network. In addition to his contributions to the sport, Steckel is known for his charitable work. He has participated in fundraising events for organizations such as the American Heart Association and the Children's Health Foundation.
