David Wilkie's career as a hockey player spanned over a decade, during which he changed teams quite frequently. After four seasons with the Canadiens, he was traded to the Washington Capitals in 1986. He also played for the Hartford Whalers, the St. Louis Blues, and the Los Angeles Kings in subsequent years. Wilkie played a total of eleven seasons in the NHL and was noted for his consistent performance and leadership qualities. He was known for his ability to anticipate the opposing team’s moves and quickly react to them, making him a valuable asset on the ice.

While David Wilkie played for several NHL teams throughout his career, it was his time with the Montreal Canadiens that is considered his most successful. He played a total of 221 games for the Canadiens, scoring 62 points and earning 197 penalty minutes. In 1984-85, he was a key player in the Canadiens’ Stanley Cup win, making several crucial plays that led to the team’s victory. David Wilkie retired from professional hockey in 1993 with 89 goals, 206 assists, and 1375 penalty minutes over 642 games.
