Denis Herron Autographs

Denis Herron was a French-Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender born on December 18, 1952, in Chambly, Quebec. He was known as "The Eagle" for his impressive wing span, which was helpful in covering the net. Herron played for several teams during his career, including the Pittsburgh Penguins, Montreal Canadiens, and Quebec Nordiques. He began his professional career playing in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League before being drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round of the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft.
Herron's most successful years were with the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he played from 1972 until 1981. During his time with the Penguins, Herron was named the team's most valuable player four times and led them to two playoff appearances. He was also chosen to represent Canada in international play, including the 1981 Canada Cup. Herron had a career save percentage of .884 and recorded 40 shutouts over the course of his 13 years in the NHL.
After retiring from professional ice hockey in 1985, Herron moved on to become a coach in the QMJHL and also served as a goaltender coach for the St. Louis Blues and the New York Rangers. He was inducted into the Quebec Sports Hall of Fame in 1998 for his achievements in ice hockey, and his number 40 was retired by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2021, marking his lasting impact on the franchise. Denis Herron is remembered as a fierce competitor and one of the top goaltenders of his era.
