Devin Setoguchi was born on January 1, 1987, in Taber, Alberta, Canada. Growing up, he developed a passion for ice hockey, and began playing at a young age. He played junior hockey for the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League (WHL) before being drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the first round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
