Dirk Graham Autographs
Dirk Graham is a retired Canadian ice hockey player and coach. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan in 1959, Graham began his professional hockey career in the International Hockey League with the Saginaw Gears in 1980. He quickly made a name for himself as a fast-skating, hard-checking right winger. In 1983, Graham signed with the Minnesota North Stars of the National Hockey League and played there for four seasons before being traded to the Chicago Blackhawks in 1987.
It was with the Blackhawks that Graham really hit his stride. He played ten seasons in Chicago, serving as team captain from 1989 to 1995. His leadership and toughness on the ice made him a fan favorite and earned him the Frank J. Selke Trophy for best defensive forward in 1991. He also helped lead the Blackhawks to the Stanley Cup Final in 1992, where they were unfortunately swept by the Pittsburgh Penguins. Graham retired from playing in 1996 with 355 goals and 356 assists to his name.
After his playing career, Graham became a coach and front office executive for several NHL teams, including the Blackhawks, Dallas Stars, and Florida Panthers. He was head coach of the Blackhawks from 1998 to 2000, and later served as Director of Player Personnel for the Stars and Vice President of Player Personnel for the Panthers. Graham's contributions to the game of hockey were recognized in 2012 when he was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame.
