Don Beaupre is a retired Canadian ice hockey goaltender who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1980 to 1997. Born in Kitchener, Ontario, Beaupre began playing hockey at a young age, and he was eventually drafted by the Minnesota North Stars in 1980. He played for the North Stars for eight seasons, where he established himself as a reliable and skilled goaltender.
Throughout his career, Beaupre played for multiple other teams, including the Washington Capitals and the Ottawa Senators. He participated in three NHL All-Star Games and was named the Capitals' Player of the Year in 1990. One of Beaupre's most memorable moments came during the North Stars' run to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1991, where he played an instrumental role in the team's success. During the playoffs that year, he posted a 2.35 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. Although the North Stars eventually lost the Finals to the Pittsburgh Penguins, Beaupre's performance earned him recognition and respect throughout the league.
After retiring from the NHL, Beaupre continued to be involved in hockey by working as a goaltending consultant for various teams, such as the Minnesota Wild and the Dallas Stars. In 2007, he was named the head coach of the Minnesota Wilderness of the Superior International Junior Hockey League, a position he held until 2011. With his extensive knowledge and experience of the game, Beaupre continues to be highly respected in the hockey community and is widely regarded as one of the top goaltenders of his era.
