Don McKenney Autographs

Don McKenney was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who was born on October 30th, 1934, in Smiths Falls, Ontario. He was a gifted hockey player from an early age and played for the Ottawa Montagnards of the Central Junior Hockey League (CJHL) and then moved on to play for the Hull Hawks of the Quebec Junior Hockey League (QJHL). He also played for the St. Michael's Majors of the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) in the 1952-53 season.
McKenney's professional career began when he joined the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL) in the 1954-55 season, where he played for 9 seasons as a regular member of the team. He scored his first NHL goal in his debut match against the Toronto Maple Leafs, which was a sign of the superstar player that he would become. He was a playmaker who was adept at setting up his teammates and also had incredible speed which helped him become a vital part of the team. In the 1957-58 season, McKenney scored 32 goals and 41 assists in 69 games, which led him to be named to the NHL's Second All-Star Team.
After his time with Boston, he was traded to the New York Rangers in 1963 where he played for 2 seasons before moving to the Detroit Red Wings for his final season in the NHL in 1965-66. McKenney was a gifted player who was known for his hard work on and off the ice, and his passion for the game was evident in his play. After his retirement, he went on to work as a sales representative for the Hershey Chocolate Company and also coached youth teams, where he taught the next generation of hockey players his winning ways. Don McKenney passed away on October 30th, 2019, at the age of 85 but remains an unforgettable figure in hockey history for his exceptional talent and incredible dedication to the sport.
