Doug Houda Autographs
Doug Houda is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and coach. He was born on June 3, 1966 in Blairmore, Alberta. Houda was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the second round of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft.
Houda played in the NHL for 16 seasons. His professional career began in 1986 with the Red Wings, where he played for seven seasons. Houda then went on to play for the Hartford Whalers, New York Islanders, Anaheim Ducks, and Boston Bruins. He retired from playing professional hockey in 2002, after playing in over 800 NHL games.
After retiring from his playing career, Houda transitioned to coaching. He joined the Boston Bruins as an assistant coach in 2006 and served in that role for 9 seasons. Houda was then hired by the Detroit Red Wings in 2015 as an assistant coach, where he worked for 4 seasons. In 2019, he was hired by the Tampa Bay Lightning as an assistant coach, where he still works today. Throughout his career, Houda was known for his tough and physical style of play on the ice, and his passion for coaching and developing players off it.
