Doug Smith is a former NFL player who was born on May 20, 1963, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He went to Basic High School, where he began playing football as a center for the football team. His outstanding performance led to his recruitment to the University of South Carolina, where he played for the Gamecocks for three years. Doug was later drafted in the second-round by the Los Angeles Rams in 1984.
He had a great career as a center for the Los Angeles Rams, where he played for six years. He was a strong anchor for the Rams' offensive line, and his consistent performances made him a team leader. In 1989, he signed with the Houston Oilers, where he played for two seasons before retiring in 1992. During his eight-year professional career, he played in 123 games and started in 103 of them. His exceptional technique and skill in the game have made him well-respected and admired by fans to this day.
After retiring from professional football, Doug returned to South Carolina, where he currently resides with his family. He has become a motivational speaker, sharing his story with others and inspiring them to pursue their dreams relentlessly. In addition, he also works in the construction business, where he runs his company, Doug Smith Construction. Doug’s legacy remains crucial in the NFL today, as he was a constant reminder of what it takes to be an all-star player on and off the field.
