Duncan Keith is a professional ice hockey player from Canada, born on July 16, 1983, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. After playing with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League (WHL), he became a second-round pick of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2002 NHL Draft. He spent most of his early career with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League (AHL), and eventually made his NHL debut on October 5, 2005. In his first four seasons with the Blackhawks, he was a regular on their defense, but it wasn’t until the 2009-2010 season that he established himself as one of the best defensemen.
Throughout his career, Duncan Keith has been an integral part of the Chicago Blackhawks. He has won the Norris Trophy twice, awarded annually to the NHL's top defenseman, in the years 2010 and 2014. He was also named to the NHL First All-Star Team three times (2010, 2014, 2015). Keith has been an asset to the Blackhawks during their recent successful run, having played a key role in their three Stanley Cup wins (2010, 2013, 2015). In the 2015 Cup Finals, Keith was named the Conn Smythe Trophy winner, awarded to the most valuable player of the playoffs. Keith’s contributions to the Chicago Blackhawks’ success have earned him a place in NHL history.
In addition to his role with the Chicago Blackhawks, Duncan Keith has also represented Canada on numerous occasions. He has played in four IIHF World Championships (2008, 2009, 2012, 2017) and in two Winter Olympics (2010, 2014). Keith has been part of the gold medal-winning teams at the World Championships (2008, 2009), and the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. With his decorated career, Duncan Keith has cemented himself as one of the premier defensemen of his generation, an essential name in Chicago Blackhawks' history, and one of the most loyal players.
