Ed Staniowski Autograph
Ed Staniowski is a former NHL goaltender who made his mark in the league throughout the 1970s and the 1980s. Born on September 12, 1955, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Staniowski began playing junior hockey with the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League (WHL). In 1975, Staniowski was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the third round of the NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut during the 1975-76 season, appearing in three games for the Blues. Over the next several seasons, Staniowski split time between St. Louis and the Blues’ minor league affiliates. However, it wasn’t until the 1980-81 season that Staniowski became the starting goaltender for the Blues. That season, he played in 43 games and posted a 3.37 goals-against average and a .887 save percentage.
Staniowski played six seasons with the Blues before being traded to the Winnipeg Jets in 1981. He spent two seasons with the Jets before being traded to the Hartford Whalers in 1983. After a season with the Whalers, Staniowski retired from professional hockey. He finished his NHL career with a 2.83 goals-against average and a .897 save percentage.
