Ed Westfall Autographs
Ed Westfall is widely regarded as one of the NHL's most reliable and consistent right wingers from the 1960s and 1970s. Born on September 19, 1940, in Belleville, Ontario, Canada, Westfall started his hockey career with the Niagara Falls Flyers of the OHA in the 1959-60 season. He was an excellent goal scorer and playmaker, and his standout performances didn't go unnoticed. In 1965, he was traded from the Boston Bruins to the New York Islanders, where he played for the most extended time of his career.
Westfall played for the New York Islanders between 1972 and 1979, where he was the team's captain for the last four seasons. He was known as a leading penalty killer and a responsible defensive forward. He played a significant role in the Islanders' 1979 Stanley Cup victory, which was the first of four consecutive victories. Westfall's playing skills were recognized by his peers in the NHL, and he was awarded the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy in 1977. This trophy is awarded to players who exemplify the qualities of perseverance, dedication, and sportsmanship.
After retiring from hockey, Westfall transitioned into broadcasting as a color commentator for the Islanders' games on cable television. He held this position for nearly two decades and was a vital contributor to the team's broadcast history. He was selected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1989 and inducted into the Islanders' Hall of Fame in 1992. Westfall remains a beloved figure in the Islanders' community, and his contributions to the team are still celebrated today.
