Elmer Lach was a professional ice hockey player who played center for the Montreal Canadiens during the 1940s and 1950s. He was born in Nokomis, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1918 and began his hockey career playing for various teams in Saskatchewan before joining the Canadiens in 1940. Lach's skill as a center was crucial to the Canadiens' success during the 1940s when they won three Stanley Cup championships. He was known for his toughness and determination on the ice, which earned him the nickname "The Flying Frenchman." He was also an exceptional playmaker and scorer, leading the league in assists and points during the 1947-48 season.
