Gary Unger Autographs
Gary Unger, born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1947, is a former professional ice hockey player. He began his career in the National Hockey League (NHL) when he was picked up by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1966 NHL Amateur Draft as a center. In the following years, he played for various teams including the Detroit Red Wings, the Los Angeles Kings, and the Edmonton Oilers. Unger is known for his consistent ability to score goals, playing in 1,105 games and contributing 1,240 points to his team. He was a five-time NHL All-Star and was inducted into the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.
Unger's highlight season came during his time with the St. Louis Blues. In the 1972-1973 season, he played all 78 games and scored 41 goals, becoming the only player in NHL history to score 20 or more goals 17 seasons in a row. He was also known for his consistency on the ice, playing in 914 consecutive games, second only to Doug Jarvis. His dedication to the sport and his team made him a fan favorite, and Unger was later inducted into the St. Louis Blues Hall of Fame.
After his retirement from hockey, Unger continued to give back to the sport he loved by coaching the Canadian national team in 1984 and again in 1987, leading them to a silver medal in the 1987 World Championships. He also worked as an analyst for ESPN's hockey coverage during the 1990s. Gary Unger's contributions to the sport and his legacy as a dedicated player continue to be recognized today.
